Doctor Who Season 3 premiere review

So, once more the Time-Lord returns, and this time gains a new ally in the shapely form of Martha Jones, medical student. With Martha's hospital transported to the Moon by the Judoon, a race of rhino-like Space Cops, the Doctor and Martha join forces to find an alien criminal before the Judoon decide to execute everyone for harbouring a fugitive.

It was certainly cracking stuff, with Russell T's typical sparkly dialogue, some great aliens in the Judoon and some amazing FX work.

Freema Agyemen as Martha is a great counter-point to Billie's Rose. Where as Rose was rather fed up with her mundane life and awed by everything she saw, Martha's happy in her life and also more questioning, such as when she realises that the hospital's windows are hardly airtight so something must be keeping the air in. She's also far more level-headed and fails to run around screaming or cower screaming in the face of winding up on the Moon confronted by rhino aliens like most of the other staff and patients do. Full marks to Freema as well for how well she and David Tennant gel and their chemistry is obvious.

So, it's good night from me and "Bo ro jo sco crow toe ro jo" from the Judoon!

9/10
